Collect

True and humble king,

hailed by the crowd as Messiah:

grant us the faith to know you and love you,

that we may be found beside you on the way of the cross,

which is the path of glory.

Please pray for those who are ill

Olwen Trefor-Roberts

Helen West

We remember those whom we know,

who are suffering in sickness or adversity,

and those who especially need our prayers at this time.

Also the families of those who have died.

APCM—the Annual Parochial Church Meeting

This will be held 25th April 2019, 7 for 7.30 pm, held in St Thomas’. Please put this date in your diaries now!

Annual Maundy Thursday Pilgrimage walk

The annual Maundy Thursday pilgrimage will take place on Thursday 18 April starting at St Christopher’s at 10.00am.

The group will follow the usual pattern of visiting the four ancient sites of Christian worship around the civil parish of Box (including the site of the abandoned church at Hazlebury) and we will also visit the Box Methodist Church. The walk will finish at The Quarryman’s Arms for lunch.  Please contact Brian Nicholas (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) 810791 or Penny Newboult (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) 742549 if you would like to join the expedition. We need to inform the staff at The Quarryman’s of numbers.

Children's Trail

With the school holidays upon us this is perhaps a good time to draw attention to the Children's Trail in St Thomas a Becket church. The excellent question sheets were compiled a few years ago by a small team from the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS, but now known as The Arts Society).  The straightforward but interesting questions are aimed at 8-12 year olds but are suitable for "children of all ages" and will take you on a tour of 14 interesting and historic spots in the building.  The sheets are in a rack on a window sill to the right of the man door, where you will also find explanatory notes and answers for adults.

Quiet Waters (Valens Terrace) Home Group

We will not be meeting this week (18th), leaving people free to attend the Maundy Thursday service at 7.30pm at Chapel Plaister, or the following week (25th) to avoid a clash with the APCM. Normal service will be resumed Thursday 2nd May! For more information, please contact  Angela on 07835 812258 or Jamie on 07427 493422.

Singers for the Easter Choir!

We are putting a choir together to sing a piece (or two) in the Easter Day morning service (21st April at 10.30am). There will be just one rehearsal—on Monday 15th April, in the church, 7-8.15pm. All are welcome but please email Andrew if you plan to join us: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Heart 4 Rudloe meets on the second and fourth Sunday of the month, between 4pm and 6pm, and everyone of any age is welcome (children must bring an adult to look after them). The afternoon includes craft, tea drinking and Lego building. This is followed by prayer, story and songs.  We round off the afternoon with some food (a light meal).

This activity is free, and is being run as part of the work of the Church of England in Box Parish.  Please do come along and join us as we make, pray and eat in the MOD Corsham Community  Centre on Leafy Lane.
