Clearing the Decks for Tee Pee

MANY THANKS to all those who helped to start the clearance of the south west corner of the church after last Sunday's service. "Many hands make...... etc...."! We made such good progress that the plan to have a working party this Saturday afternoon is cancelled.

Instead it is intended to finish clearing that corner after the service this Sunday, including moving the Flower Arrangers Cupboard and the metal cabinet full of china etc.  Anything that remains will then be cleared by your Church Wardens next Monday morning at the same time that we greet the builders.

Thanks again everybody.     Charles Freeman and Ian Harris

TOAST at St Thomas’  this Sunday 10 June

TOAST meets on the second and fourth Sunday of the month.

A fun youth group that meets in St Thomas à Becket every two weeks usually, between 6pm and 7.30pm.  Toast is a group for year 6 and above.  We enjoy creatively exploring the Christian faith and eating  plenty of food to keep us going! Please contact a  member of Clergy, one of the leaders, or just come along to find out more.  Our TOAST leaders are:

            Rev Clair Southgate  T: 01225 743970

            Ian MacKenzie          T: 01225 744458

Box Open Gardens.

As you may know, the church is organising the Open Gardens on Sunday 17th June. 2-6pm. Teas will be available at the Tucker’s and Parry’s. As John will be otherwise engaged in his own garden, we need one or two volunteers to spend an hour selling programmes at the top of Church Lane on the day. Clair has very kindly offered to be there but it may be good to have some back up, between 2pm and say 5pm at the latest.

Please contact John if you can help please.

26 June - Talk by Clair Fussell of the Diocesan Staff

At the moment the routine outgoings for this year from our General Fund, which covers both StTaB and CP, are probably going to exceed our likely income by about £2,000, even though we are paying the diocese far less through our "Parish Share" than we did about 5 years ago.  This potential annual deficit is without taking account of Project TeePee or any major building maintenance.   Last year we survived the situation by drawing on an unexpected and very welcome legacy but we cannot continue routinely to pay out from our funds more money than is coming in. The PCC is going to listen to the advice of the very helpful Diocesan Fundraising Adviser, Clair Fussell, on Tues 26 June at 7.30pm in the church and it would be really helpful if as many other people as possible could also attend so that together we can learn about the options and discuss them if necessary.

Do please put the date in your diary and try to come! Thanks! Charles
