Help, please!  The wonderful Sylvia Walker is both mourned and missed, but it is necessary to think about how the many tasks she undertook can be handled in future.  Even without mentioning her roles outside the church (with LINK and "Friends of St Thomas a Becket" for instance) she had a wide array of jobs.  The following list is an attempt to show where assistance is now needed with church work.  If you feel you can play a part then please let me know This email address is being protected from spambots. T. 01225 744155. Some provisional offers are included below but in several cases these are from people who already "do things" so please do not hold back from additional or alternative offers.               Charles

Nothing to do with Treasurer's post

1.  Run the roster of Sunday morning organists/pianists.. John Tucker has kindly offered.

2.  Run rota of meeters/greeters/readers for StTaB and CP, and also CP service leaders.  Pam Farmer and Lee Towler have offered to do this together.

3.  Organise choirs for funerals and weddings if/when requested .  Cath Knight has offered.

4.  Organise organist and verger(s) for funerals

Financial Tasks

5.  Paying bills using cheque book and electronic transfer

6.  Dealing with "cash in" ; ie,  gather cash, open envelopes and record amount and date, make up paying-in slip, pay in at post office (escort can be provided!). Best done weekly or fortnightly.

7.  Reading electricity and gas meters monthly and submitting results to suppliers (and perhaps administering the utilities contracts?)

8.  Recording financial transactions in accordance 5, 6 and 7 above,  ie being Treasurer but with a smaller load than Sylvia carried.  The role could be essentially "coordinator and recorder" rather than "doer".

9.   Undertake end of year trial balance (and quarterly reconciliation?)

10.  Secretary of Finance Committee (about 1 page of minutes every 3 months).

11.  Administration of School House etc.  John Tucker has worked with Sylvia on this.

12.  Gift Aid returns.  Chris Ward helped Sylvia with the online system for this.

Obviously many of those tasks can be combined, but equally the work which was undertaken by Sylvia can be divided either on the above lines or in some other way.
