A Big Thank You to Jane Cox and team

Thank you so much for organising the wonderful Caribbean Evening on Saturday.  Much fun was had by all and an impressive sum of over £1,600 was raised for the TeePee fund.

Thank you again for all your hard work.

Grace in Box - Friday 3 November

Grace got off to a great start on Friday.  We were over 60 children and adults - with lots of washing up to do afterwards!

Anyone willing to don a pair of rubber gloves and lend a hand with the washing up next time, Friday 3 November 3.30-5.30pm in Box Methodist Church, would be very welcome indeed.

The choir practices for this year’s carol service will be on Tuesdays(not Thursdays).

They will start on Tuesday 7th November, 7pm - 8pm, in Church.

The service itself will be on Sunday 17th December. There’s no need to let us know now if you’re planning to join us we just wanted to give you advanced notice of the day change.

Foundation Level Safeguarding Brief in November

A visiting trainer (Mike Bosher) will be giving a Foundation level brief on Safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults in St Thomas’, at 7pm on Thursday 9 November (refreshments from 6.45pm).

Mike's similar talk a couple of years ago was so interesting and valuable that he has been invited back.  We might think that we know about safeguarding hazards and how to avoid them from news reports etc, but the talk contains challenges and surprises.

The briefing is particularly recommended for members of the PCC, but any and all members of the congregation are encouraged to come along.  For those who can’t make the evening briefing, there will be an exact replica in the day time, held in St John’s Church, Colerne,

on Thursday 16 November at 10.30am.  Do please put one of these dates in your diary! Just to be clear, this briefing is separate to the question of DBS Disclosures etc for the posts that need to have such clearances.  Charles

Church Seasons

We are in the second period of Ordinary Time in the Church Season (the first, shorter period, falls between Candlemas and Ash Wednesday).

The liturgical colour is Green, as shown by the colour of the altar frontal.

Ordinary time gives us a more uninterrupted reading of the Bible in sequence, as well as space to explore other themes, for example creation and the environment. It’s the growing season and we celebrate harvest.
